Tomorrow, I reach the 10 week mark. So far, so good! Not much has changed in the last week. Today, at work, Amy and I took the doppler to my belly and heard Baby A swimming around. It was so neat! Baby A's heart rate was 160 beats per minute. It sounds silly, but it was so much fun and reassuring to hear the heartbeat again!
I have been taking pictures every week since I was 5 weeks pregnant. Not much has changed but I'm starting to get a tiny bump! I sent my mom a picture this week and she said she wasn't every impressed and that she had to put her glasses on to try to see a bump! Ha! Ha! As soon as I find my USB cable, I will post my belly pics. I want to have pics throughout the whole pregnancy so I can look back at them later!
Baby A's progress:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. Baby A is starting to look more and more human. His/her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Baby A's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do his/her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Baby A's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. His/her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. Baby A has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that Baby A's basic physiology is in place, he/she is poised for rapid weight gain.
I go to the doctor Wednesday, so hopefully I will have some news to share later this week!

Little Meewes
Congratulations to my sister, Lauren and brother-in-law, Brian! The Meewes family is expanding! Ella Grace is going to be a big sister in late May and this is how she announced it to her friends:
I have a very big secret...
I'm happy to be me...
Because I am a BIG SISTER to be!
Baby Meews is due May 25, 2012, exactly 4 weeks before Baby A! My mom was speechless! My parents will have 3 grandbabies in 2012! Little Meewes and Baby A will also make great grandbaby #2 and #3 for Gran, Pop-pop, Mema, Granddaddy Kelley and Rose!
It will be so much fun watching cousins, so close in age, grow up with each other! Maybe one day we will all get our wish and Lauren, Brian, Ella Grace and Little Meewes will move back to the South...where they belong!
Baby A's 8 Week Update
On Monday, I officially hit the 8 week mark of my pregnancy. Not much has changed since the last update but I'm afraid my belly is trying to grow on me. During the day, I don't feel much difference, but at night, especially after a meal, I look down and see that little bump. I read an article yesterday that said this is just water retention, BUT I want to call it my baby bump!
I have tried to be pretty healthy with my eating habits, but every now and then a craving, usually sweet, will take over and I'll find myself in the Chick-fil-a line getting a milkshake! I try to eat my junk in moderation! My mom and I had actually started a 6-week challenge, starting at the beach, to see who could lose the most weight before Thanksgiving. I was pretty excited and started doing the Couch to 5K running program but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I slowed it down to walking because the doctor said I need to keep my heart rate below 140 beats per min. With my crazy work schedule, my goal is to walk 4 miles, 3 to 4 times a week!
Here is a little info about Baby A's development:
Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.
I go back to the doctor November 30. Maybe, if I'm lucky they'll do another ultrasound. If not, I will get an ultrasound on December 15, when we do the genetic testing. Baby A should be around 13 weeks at this appointment. I can't wait to see Baby A's little arms and legs.
Overall, my pregnancy has been wonderful! I've always wanted to be able to enjoy pregnancy and not loathe it like some women, who are nauseous and vomiting for 9 months. I get a little nauseous when my belly gets too empty, so I always have a snack with me and try not to go too long without eating. In my spare time, I find myself browsing the internet for all of the baby apparel we will soon by buying. I look at ideas for the nursery, which is so much fun! I can't wait to find out if we are having a little girl or boy! Josh and I just pray that we have a healthy baby!
Speaking of Josh, he has been over the moon about Baby A. He has a book for daddy's that he is reading now. He also likes to rub my belly and talk to Baby A. Every morning before he leaves for work he gives me and Baby A a kiss goodbye! I know Josh is going to make an incredible father!

New to the Blogging World
I have always wanted to blog but never really had a reason to... until now. Josh and I found out, on October 24, that we are expecting!! I want to blog to keep family and friends updated on how things are going in our crazy lives! The tentative due date for Baby A is June 27, 2012. This due date may change today after I see my new doctor and she does an ultrasound. We are hoping to get a sneak peak of our little baby today!
To be continued...
My appointment went well! They did an ultrasound...thank the lord! I didn't want to wait any longer. Baby A measured at 6 weeks and 6 days but the nurse practitioner said since the date is so close to the one we'd already calculated that we'll go with 7 weeks and 2 days. June 25, 2012 is our new due date! Yay! It was amazing to see that little baby growing in my belly with such a strong heart beat- 152 beats per minute to be exact! I go back in 3 weeks to meet with Dr. Moffat, who will be delivering the baby!
Baby A
7 weeks, 2 days
Heart rate 152
Below are the beautiful, handmade daygowns mom sent from the Women's Exchange in Memphis. Baby A will wear on of these home from the hospital.
That's all I have for today. I will try to update weekly!
